Management of projects is quite essential all over the world especially in construction industry, manufacturing, Information Technology and healthcare industries. One variation which was not too often talked about during the years 2015 and 2016 was on managing Applications Support & Maintenance (AS & M) engagements. There are tens of processes common between IT development projects and IT services engagements where Applications Support is provided. However there are some processes and best practices that are exclusive to the services that are provided in AS & M.

Many a time aspiring project managers are not adequately trained to deal with execution of projects. Some organizations attach the aspiring ones with mentors and take them through the lifecycle of projects but in many other cases they are not well trained/mentored. This work is critical to the success of engagement with customers and tracking all the deliverables with high quality well within the agreed timelines, cost and profit margins.
