I have been an IT professional for more than two decades, but multiple aspects intrigued me about spirituality and dharma. There are four purusharthas that mankind should aim at to have a balanced, meaningful and purpose-driven life. They are dharma (righteousness), artha (wealth) kama (desires) and moksha (spiritual liberation). Mankind should aim at practising the four purusharthas in a balanced way, prioritising dharma as the guiding principle for pursuing artha and kama with the eventual aim of attaining spiritual liberation.
Deficiency or excessiveness of any of the four purusharthas can lead to an imbalance, which can lead to selfishness, hardships, discontent and greed. If there is excessive focus on dharma it leads to weakening of the ability to gain wealth (artha) and weak desires (kama). If there is too much interest in kama, then an imbalance is created with the other three purusharthas. This leads to a breakdown of fundamental values, collective social bonding and erosion of trust, leading to weakening of the overall social fabric.
This website is a medium by which I will elaborate on dharma. It’s quite important to understand dharma holistically as it provides an ethical and moral framework for a righteous life and spiritual progress.
